Jul 25, 2023 Season 6 Episode 329
Sten Stray-Gundersen

This EP 329 features Sten Stray-Gundersen. Sten is a leading Blood Flow Restriction expert. Having recently acquired his Ph.D., Sten is now on his way to The Sports Science Lab at The University of South Carolina for a post-doc, where he intends to further his research and teaching skills and investigate a wide range of sports-related topics including BFR, human cognition, ergogenic aids, and more.

Sten has been an athlete his whole life culminating in a strong D1 college soccer career at Dartmouth. Before that, he was a nationally competitive youth cross-country skier, speedskater, and track athlete.

During rehabilitation from a knee injury, he was exposed to the potential of BFR for healing and fitness. This ignited an already growing interest in the underlying physiology of exercise and sports performance. This love of sports and physiology brought him to the University of Texas at Austin, where he expanded his knowledge and understanding of performance.

Sten is a BFR Master Trainer who works at ROI Performance Center, where he prescribes BFR protocols and methodologies for clients of all ages and lifestyles. Sten has also applied BFR in his work with Olympians and elite military personnel.

I invited Sten on the podcast to hear his story and the story of his father Dr. James Stray-Gundersen to better understand their combined exploration of the concepts of blood flow restriction in training and performance as this is quickly becoming a game changer in human performance.

Co-Owner Sean Whalen and Sten have an offer for the LYM Listener, and I would highly recommend giving B-Strong Cuffs a try, I’ve found them to be exceptionally valuable in my own training and the work I am doing with some of the athletes I train.

Until Labor Day, you can take advantage of 20% off the regular price of a B-Strong Kit that normally sells for $450. You can get it for $360 and with FREE shipping, just head over to www.BSTRONG.training and put in the code LYMBStrong at product checkout of the B-Strong Training System https://bstrong.training/products/b-strong-training-system
