A Journey in Creativity with Maren Gube
Show Notes

In this episode, I speak with Dr. Maren Gube. Maren has a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology and currently helps organizations understand the intimate connection between innovation and contextual social emotions.   Growing up in Finland among forests and paper mills, she developed an early interest in how things are made and how they work.  Her formative career experiences included early management roles in corporate and industrial settings, and Maren was the first woman on the executive committee of a large manufacturing organization.  While raising a family, she became an “accidental homeschooler” for 6 years, which led to an abiding interest in learning in all its forms. In 2019, she completed her Ph.D. Her research focused on how context influences creative thinking, and her work on gendered attrition from the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math, known as STEM has earned several awards.  She has recently earned certifications in psychological safety and in fostering healthy emotional cultures in teams.  With the overdue but emphatic public discourse on equity, diversity, inclusion, and social justice, her goal now is to support leaders and organizations in developing cultures that invite everyone to innovate.
