Under the Armour of Leadership with Matt Shearer
This episode features Matt Shearer who is the Senior Vice President/General Manager of Under Armour’s Canadian business. He has been with Under Armour since 2001 and has played a major role in elevating the brand on an international level. In 2003, he opened and established the brand’s Canadian subsidiary and in 2009 added the Americas region, including market responsibility in Mexico, South America, Australia, and New Zealand. In 2012, Matt relocated to Amsterdam to become Vice President of EMEA, where he was responsible for restructuring and managing Under Armour’s European business. He returned to Canada in 2014 to resume responsibility of the Canadian business, as well as oversee Under Armour’s Outdoor division. In addition to his Canadian responsibilities, he has since been elevated to oversee UA’s North America Operations. As an athlete, Matt played professional lacrosse in both the National Lacrosse League and Major League Lacrosse, as well as playing for the Canadian National Lacrosse Team.
